How to practice with these sheets

  1. Follow the numbers. The first box of each row shows the stroke order: numbers give the order, arrows give the direction.
  2. Trace the gray kana slowly, saying the sound out loud.
  3. Write from memory in the empty boxes. The dashed lines help you keep the balance.

Romaji use the Hepburn system (shi, chi, tsu, fu). Stroke order diagrams follow the order taught in Japanese schools. For each kana there is also an animated hiragana stroke order and katakana stroke order page, and a kana quiz to test yourself.
